Saniflo Shower
Ideal for installing a full basement bathroom, this compact yet durable gray water pump unit will move gray water away from your bath, sink, bar sink, or other wet fixtures, making it perfect for a basement bathroom setup with a shower, toilet, and sink. Sized right to sit beneath a raised shower base, it is small enough to fit underneath, making it a popular choice in a boat bath or similar application.
The unit can also sit behind a wall or next to a shower, which makes it easy to install and ideal for small spaces. The Sanishower drain pump is versatile enough for various installations, including those in tight spaces.
Capable of pumping wastewater up to 15 feet in height and/or 100 feet away from a soil stack, the Saniflo Sanishower is an excellent choice for all sorts of settings, such as a basement shower. It’s designed to pump gray water waste away efficiently, meeting the needs of a full basement bathroom.
Additionally, the system’s design includes a two-way air vent and requires connection to a ground fault interrupter (GFI) circuit to comply with plumbing codes, ensuring safety and efficiency.
All plumbing codes require connection to a vent system when installing in a basement bathroom, emphasizing the need for an air vent and highlighting the importance of connecting the gray water pumps to a GFI circuit as recommended by American and Canadian standards for safety.
How the Easy-to-Install Saniflow Sanishower Drain Pump Works
The inside consists of two parts:
- a pressure chamber, which starts and stops the unit
- the motor, which drives the pump.
When the water enters through the pump, it activates a micro switch in the pressure chamber, which in turn starts the motor. The motor is sealed for life in an oil-filled enclosure. A spindle/shaft drives the impeller; therefore, the moving parts are kept to an absolute minimum. Wastewater enters the chamber and is pumped away into the sanitary sewer.
The Saniflo Sanishower unit pumps the effluent upward to 12 feet and/or 100 feet horizontally (with gravity fall). Once the wastewater is discharged and the level in the container goes down, the micro switch deactivates the unit until waste enters the unit again.
A normal operating cycle can be as short as 2-10 seconds, depending upon the discharge pipe run configuration; therefore, power consumption is minimal. The discharge elbow on the side can be rotated 360 degrees to fit any type of installation required.
In addition to sinks, the Sanishower will also accept and discharge wastewater from a variety of other sanitary fixtures, such as urinals and showers for basements. A base will have to be constructed when adding the showerhead.
This base should be made out of a 2” x 6” (minimum) or 2” x 8” (recommended) on edge to allow for the installation of a P-trap and the required 1/4” per foot gravity flow towards the unit.
The Sanishower is small enough to fit comfortably inside a kitchen cabinet or vanity or as a choice for basement showers.
Please note that there are no specific Saniflo showers. A Saniflo showerhead would be a branded shower with a pump. We can help you determine what type of product will work with your unit.
