Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do you install a Saniflo basement bathroom?
An additional bathroom is always a welcome addition to any home. Whether you want to use extra space to create a new full bathroom, a powder room, an extra bathroom, or an ensuite bathroom, Saniflo’s upflushing toilets are a brand you can trust to deliver what you need.
A Saniflo macerating toilet system saves you thousands of dollars in renovation, remodeling, or additions because it's easy to install. Additionally, upflush toilets use less water than traditional ones and can easily handle human waste and flush objects like sanitary napkins and dental floss. The main difference is in the Saniflo upflushing toilet system's discharge method, which comprises the macerator and the pump.
The macerator has a rotating blade that turns on automatically when the toilet is flushed. The flushing water combined with the waste from the toilet bowl grinds the solids into a slurry. The pump then helps move the waste to the sewage system, holding tank, septic tank, or drain pipe.
The Saniflo macerating system was designed to be simple so anyone can install it, even those without plumbing experience. Most installation jobs can be done in a couple of days or less.
To install a Saniflo upflush toilet and shower system, just follow these steps:
Get everything you need, such as a Saniflo up flush toilet pump system, available water supply, shower base, sink, discharge pipe, source of electricity with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFI) breaker, and a venting source. Select the installation site and cut into the home's soil stack to install a Y-connector for the discharge pipes from the Saniflo system's macerator.
Next, connect the toilet tank to the water supply. Add an adaptor to the water line, screw in a tap, and connect. Hook the toilet to power a nearby electrical circuit, preferably a 15-amp. If your Saniflo toilet system of choice requires venting, connect the macerator pump to the home's vent system or just as long as the air can move in and out.
A valuable tip for hiding the macerating pump behind a wall to keep the bathroom looking neat is to install an extension pipe. However, please keep in mind that an extension pipe only works for SaniBEST, SaniPLUS, and SaniAccess units.
Whether you're adding a bathroom in the basement or attic, the Saniflo system can be installed in virtually any part of your house, even without needing a concrete foundation. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for the minimum requirements for water supply and electrical connections.
